So, 6500 km and a few hours later, we're back in France.
When we landed at the Marseilles airport, we had been in the air long enough and were ready to set our feet on terra firma. The day was a hot, dry Provencal August day and we were happy. The Marseilles airport is smaller and more intimate than the huge international airports of Europe.
We quickly connected with Peter & Margaret, talked over prime details and made our way out of Marseilles. The A7 was slightly bunged up to the first toll plaza. After that, we rock and rolled to our turnoff at Orange sud. Here, we gased up at Carrefour and continued on to Cairanne. I have to say that we always drive diesels in France , so the first fillup was a small shock at regular gas prices, but then we're good to go for the next bit.
Back at Cairanne, we felt like we'd come home and started with two whites as we unpacked, a Duches de Uzes and a Pouilly Fuisse. Shabby!
It has been a hot and dry summer here, so things are pretty parched. Dawn loves watering, so NO problem.
Later in the afternoon after much wine, we actually unpacked.
Closer to dusk, with camera in hand, 1 took the following pics in town.
What a spectacular spot!!
The middle pic shows Dawn on the terrace of Peter & Margaret's place and the last pic is the chapel just below their property.
After some sleep, I'll continue tomorrow.
