Gdansk

Another port, another language, another currency and to top it off, another city that was flattened in 1945. The Soviets were responsible for this one, but that’s little consolation to the residents of Gdansk.
We were greeted at the dock this morning by a marching band accompanied by pom pom toting cheerleaders. Conveniently, they were centred immediately below our stateroom.

Our tour for the day bused us into the heart of old Gdansk, which I believe pleasantly surprised everyone with the quantity and quality of fabulous Renaissance architecture. The weather is staying on our side so the walk about was quite delightful.

When the tour concluded, we sat down for a drink before returning to the ship, where we had a very enjoyably quiet afternoon.

Tonight, dinner was in Polo and because I took too much space elaborating on last night’s meal, other than to say that it was a steak and lobster kind of night. I can definitely say that it lived up to expectations.
