Victoria Part Deux

So, the typhoon that was supposed to hit yesterday, blew itself out before creating further havoc and this morning the rain also stayed away. I need to insert a brief footnote to last night's concert. At intermission, as we're doing our washroom thing, we ran into Mary Martin and Bob Peart who live in Sidney. Mary was Dawn's matron of honour and a friend from Ottawa. It is indeed a small world! This morning we embarked on a further tour of greater Victoria. We first drove through the high end residential district of Uplands and then down to the beaches of Oak Bay. On a clear day the views of the Washington Mts. must be spectacular. Although the redwoods aren't abundant in Victoria, the one in the above pic proves there are some. For lunch today we went to the Marina Restaurant for their Sunday buffet. It has quite the location! The next three pictures are of other noteworthy places we saw today: The Wayside House where Janine and family live; Government House, home to BC's lieutenant governor; and the Christian Science Church where Diane is first reader. After lunch we went for a walk with Janine and her boys with lots of nice vistas. Our last evening in Victoria was spent relaxing and preparing for the next leg of our journey.
