Autumn Adventure 2016
As we headed down the 401 this afternoon, nature was giving us one its finest colour shows, with the maples being at that perfect stage just they drop all their leaves. Glad we saw that before we left.
Instead of heading east to Europe this year, we are heading west, first to visit sister Diane and brother-in-law Gerry in Victoria and then off to explore Hawaii. We are taking advantage of our Air Miles on this trip. Other than our flight home from Honolulu, we have been able to use the Miles for all other flights and our Honolulu car rental.
To begin our journey we stayed the night before our flight at the Alt Hotel at Pearson Airport, so the morning commute to the airport was confined to a monorail ride directly to Terminal 3.
Our flight via Westjet took us to Victoria via a brief stop in Vancouver. As we took off from Toronto, we where treated to a final look at Ontario's autumnal beauty.
Our flight was slightly bumpy, by otherwise uneventful and we landed in "Raincouver" five hours later. Our next leg to Victoria was en retard so we headed for a snack and drink at a Milestones associate called Palamino's. We finally walked out onto the rainsoaked Tarmac to our turbo prop Bombardier and set out on what would be one short but wild flight across the Strait of Georgia. Dawn was less than impressed! But, we arrived, rattled, but unscathed to a windy, soaking Victoria and off we went back to Gerry and Diane's home in Victoria. Apparently tomorrow's weather promises to be worse with the tail of a typhoon rolling in, so that will be interesting. More pics tomorrow.
