France and beyond

Nothing like an adventure before the adventure! We booked this trip as we usually do with Air France and then one week before we were to fly, Air France pilots decided to do a one week strike/protest. They promised to keep 40% of the planes in the air but after day two of the strike, it was clear that no flights were leaving from Toronto. Thanks to good friends and travelling companions- the Zorzis - we got a clean transfer to Air Canada leaving at around the same time and with decent seats to boot. One more wrinkle- Dawn was now Dawn on the ticket and not Elizabeth as originally booked and as listed in her passport. We met Aaron and Magda at the Sheraton after Peter and Margaret Pigeon dropped us off. Then, with trepidation, we headed to the Air Canada check in. It turned out that neither of our names looked too good on the boarding passes - I was Willia - but our extremely personable attendant barely blinked an eye and onward we went. Next stop- the bar, to celebrate. So as we sit awaiting our flight we are now eagerly anticipating our next 6 1/2 weeks - one week road trip down the west coast of France, 2 weeks at Chez Pigeon in Cairanne, a one week road trip through the Italian Riviera to Rome and then 12 days cruising the Med with Oceania with a final 3 days in Istanbul. This episode of the blog was composed on my phone. It may also be the last - talk about tedious! Where is my computer?
