So... dinner last night.
La Relais in Ste. Cecile les Vignes, was recommended by Margaret and she definitely didn't steer us wrong. The 33 euro prix fixe consisted of an amuse bouche of aubergine caviar, followed by either guacamole soup with langoustine or seared tuna with raita sauce or artichokes with a foie gras terrine. Main course was either pigeon - sorry Peter & Margaret - with foie gras, rosti and roasted figs or marinated scampi with wok vegetables. We all survived the cheese course, without gales of laughter - sorry Aaron. Dessert was a chocolate mousse with caramel or panacotta with lime sorbet.
This morning, we bid farewell to Dennis & Jackie and headed back to Ste. Cecile for the market. It was not raining this morning and was actually a pleasant day, unlike former Ste. Cecile markets. We found some fabulous goodies for dinner tomorrow night when Tim & Dianne arrive. We also, for the first time, bought paella and chili from the huge vats being stewed at the market and had that for lunch. Outstanding! We discovered that you need to reserve the paella as it disappears quickly.
For wine tasting today, we started with Chantecotes in Ste. Cecile and found some delightful, less expensive wines. We then made another stop at the Cave in Cairanne.
The afternoon involved a run into Orange for some shopping at Carrefour and then a walk about the old village in Cairanne and some serious down time.
For dinner this evening, we opted for another visit to the Michelin one star Grand Pre, in Roaix. This experience will have to be related tomorrow.
