Uncharacteristically, the group got going a little later today. Our plan was to visit more of the local wine country immediately to our north and since the traveling distances weren't going to amount to much, we set back departure time by an hour. This, by the way, is the VW Sharon, we've been touring in for the last week.
Our first stop was back at two Vinsobres wineries, to restock some of our favourite bottles and Aaron, in particular, had his eye on a nice wine carrying box with classy accessories at la Vinsobraise.
Next, we stopped in St. Maurice and sampled their product, with which no one was really impressed. Their operation was still at a 1970's level, with a fairly insignificant tasting room and sipping out of miniscule glasses.
Visan was our next stop with a little tour through the old town and then on to some tasting.
We tasted at the les Coteaux winery and sampled some fabulous wines, with the help of a very pleasant young lady and a printed English description of the wines. Everyone found these Visan wines to their liking, so the car got loaded up once again.
Lunch was at a little cafe at the main juncture in Valreas. Most of the group finally got a sampling of steak/frites, which you've just got to have when you come to France.
The afternoon was spent quietly back in Cairanne, with pizza for dinner from Ste. Cecile.
