Atlantic Behind Us

With another time change last night, we almost missed breakfast this morning. We’ve decided that this ship is like a cradle, gently rocking its babies and keeping us in a constant state of slumber. Of course, it could also be the wine. We sat with more of the seasoned cruisers last night at the Oceania Club and talked to a couple on their 34th cruise and were introduced to an unmarried couple who met on a trip to Berlin and now live separately in Seattle and Toronto, but have just done their 20th cruise with Oceania.
We attended the cooking demo again today, by far the most entertaining and well-attended event on the ship. The two head chefs, both from France were cooking with our Cruise Director and General Manager.
The demo began, as all do, with a need for “’coffee” – code for a glass of wine – and for the next hour they took us through their hilarious escapades. It ended up that only the two non-cooks actually cooked as both chefs prepared tartar dishes – one salmon and one beef. There is a cookbook for Oceania that we may have to procure.
After lunch, the cradle effect had kicked in again and we opened our room up to enjoy the sound of the ocean lapping against the hull of the ship. This cruise has got us planning for our next one. Funny how that happens! Our evening found us back in Toscana for dinner, for more Italian fare. With the majority of the Atlantic and the tropics behind us, we realize that the cruise has gone very quickly and before we know it, we will be booted off the ship in Barcelona.
