Downtown Disney

Today was spent with Disney again, but not in one of the four theme parks. Instead, we started with another character breakfast at Disney’s Contemporary Hotel - with any luck at all, this may be the last.
This breakfast was in the restaurant called Chef Mickeys where Donald Duck, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy were all dressed in chef attire. Unlike the princesses, the animated characters do not speak, relying only on their good looks. There is therefore less interaction with the guests and they make their way around the dining room a little faster.
When we bought the girls their autograph books, we thought they would end up mostly empty, but at this point they are mostly full. The Disney monorail rolls right through the centre of this hotel, which is always an interesting diversion.
After breakfast we drove to Downtown Disney and did some shopping in the World of Disney shop.
Then our little girls had an appointment in the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique where they had a princess makeover – nails, makeup and hair. We weren’t sure whether or not Sadie would buy into this event, but she did just fine and in the end we were presented with two little girls who were hardly recognizable.
While the girls were in the salon, Dawn and I walked the length of the downtown past extensive shops and nightclubs. We ended up at the Cirque de Soleil theatre where we decided to purchase tickets for this Friday night’s show. For lunch we ate at the Rainforest Café and with our glittery princesses, enjoyed a nice meal in the jungle. Today was an extended/early birthday celebration for both girls, so the culmination of the meal was a volcano birthday cake with a rousing round of Happy Birthday!
The day ended with pool time and we later plotted our plan of attack for tomorrow’s final assault on the Magic Kingdom.
