Nyons Market

If it’s Thursday, it must be market day in Nyons. It was was also Day 2 of the Mistral. We, once again, needed nothing at the market, but that didn’t deter us. If there’s a market, we’re there! The drive to Nyons is always nice because it takes us up over the hills out the back of Cairanne which gives us the perched village look.
Nyons was as crazy busy as Vasion la Romaine with cars parked a good two kilometres from the market, but we found a close spot on a closed road. We kind of ignored that sign. Dumb tourists!
We walked the entire length of the market through the narrow winding streets, expecting to see someone we know, but we didn’t.
The one exception to this was our tomato/olive market lady who we couldn’t find in Vaison la Romaine. Thank goodness she’s still a market regular. She still has the BEST sun dried tomatoes in oil and herbs that we’ve ever had. We also bought her picholines which even I enjoy and are nothing like the picholines in Canada. After all of these years, I think it’s time I put a name to the face. Let's see if I can pull that off.
We had a great walk through town. Even though it wasn’t as warm as we might like, the sun and blue skies were spectacular.
Back at Chez Pigeon, after a terrace lunch, we set out on a yard cleanup, getting rid of all of the dead stuff lying around. This is Dawn’s idea of a good time. This is the last day on our own. Tomorrow, company arrives.
