Orange

On Thursday there are two local markets from which to choose - Nyons and Orange. Normally we opt for Nyons but because we hadn't been to Orange this year, we headed there. This is a good market and the parking situation is seriously better than Nyons. Our route to downtown Orange always takes into Orange the back way, through Camaret sue Aigues. This little circular fortified village always intrigues us with its ancient arches and towers.
Mostly, the Orange market winds through the centre of Old Orange, close to the ancient Roman Theatre.
This is the market that frightened us back in the early 2000's because of the narrow congested streets and heavy Moroccan presence. Today, it doesn't faze us a bit, but the Muslim population still dominates.
Like most market days, there is great people watching to be had- the emphasis here may be "female" people.
After a quick stop at Carrefour to pick up what we missed at the market we were back at our favourite restaurant - Chez Pigeon - having a Gesiers Salade - chicken gizzards. Others may say Yuk, but we say Yum!
We no sooner finished lunch than the rain came down in torrents forcing us indoors. That nicely encouraged us to continue our binge watching of Suits.
